New Brunswick needs to create new, better forestry legislation

This letter is regarding the condition of our Crown Lands, our natural resource, (which should be profitable like Alberta’s oil) and the extremely poor management of half the area of New Brunswick. The $1 billion forestry industry has a rival: tourism in New Brunswick is another $1 billion industry. Yet tourism has one third the budget of natural resources. The consequences of what we are allowing as forestry practises will have a negative impact on this thriving sector of our economy. We need a new Crown Lands and Forests Act. This Act is unbalanced and has lost its value. Many aspects of the Act which were there to protect our habitat and the living spaces of all the animals of the forest and the rivers of New Brunswick have been eliminated.
