Thousands Will Protest At Jantar Mantar Tomorrow On Forest Rights, People’s Control Over Resources

Tomorrow, on May 20th, an expected 5,000 – 6,000 forest dwellers and adivasis from across the country will join a rally at Jantar Mantar to demand that the rights of forest dwellers to protect, manage and use their forest lands and resources should be respected. The protesters will march to Parliament and court arrest in the afternoon. The main issues will be implementation of the Forest Rights Act, recognising people’s power to protect forests and stopping illegal handover of forest lands to industry.
