Aboriginal commercial fishing is a controversial hot button issue on the Fraser River in British Columbia. It’s a volatile situation made worse by the dwindling salmon population. Each year, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans signs commercial sales agreements with First Nations. This year, however, there was no agreement and there are concerns that this could lead to confusion and confrontation on the water.
