Shark fin soup issue stays on the boil in Toronto

oronto’s tempest in a soup bowl continues to swirl. The Toronto Chinese Business Association stirred the pot Friday with a news release insisting that a proposal to ban shark fin soup in city restaurants is misguided and unfairly targets its community. “We understand finning is inhumane,” said the association’s executive director, Barbara Chiu, of the practice of catching sharks solely for the purpose of cutting off fins and dumping the rest of the animal back into the sea.
