Position: Chair, Neo-Tropical Conservation, Faculty of Environmental Studies, York University, Toronto, ON

Applications are invited for the position of Chair in Neo-Tropical Conservation, at the Associate or Full Professor rank. The Chair position will be for five years, and will be renewable. The Chair will be responsible for leading research in the field and directing our increasingly popular Las Nubes Project ( in Costa Rica. A PhD in a relevant field, at least one graduate degree in the natural sciences, and fluency in Spanish are required.

We are seeking candidates with outstanding research and publication records who will provide leadership in interdisciplinary research and action focused on neo-tropical forest ecology and
community-based conservation. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to bridge disciplinary boundaries to facilitate collaborative research among scholars and participatory work
with local communities. More broadly, the Chair will be a political advocate of neo-tropical conservation in the Americas.

Candidates must have teaching experience and be able to contribute to teaching and research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including supervision of doctoral research. The ability
to contribute to one or more of the Faculty’s certificate or diploma programs is an asset.
