New speculation Welsh Government may abolish national park authorities

There was speculation last night that the Welsh Government may be intending to abolish national park authorities.

Planning consultant Evan Owen said sources within the Government had indicated that scrapping the authorities was under active consideration and that a document was likely to be published next year.

Last night a spokesman for the Welsh Government said: “We do not comment on speculation. There are no imminent plans to publish a document that would see Wales’ national park authorities abolished.”
